Perimeter block walls are installed. First picture shows the garage and the front porch. Third and fourth show the removal of the excess dirt within the walls and grading and compaction to prepare for pouring the crawl space slab.
Five concrete mixers and two concrete pumps later the footings are poured and complete. Concrete blocks are delivered in preparation for the installation of the walls, piers and columns.
Pouring the footings began on schedule. Unfortunately, the concrete pump broke down after the first truckload. The bottom picture shows some of the cold joints that were created when concrete could no longer be pumped. The last picture in the series shows the second pump that arrived on site 3 hours later. Notice the tire on the pump. One of the tires on the pump blew 4 miles from the site and they rolled in on the rim.
Layout of the foundation footings is done to assure proper placement and elevation.
Footings are dug 12 inches deep and 24 inches wide with three lengths of steel rebar.
No job site is official until you have a place to do the paperwork!
A total of eight trees were cut down to make way for the new house. Several of which were in the neighbors yard, which they graciously agreed to.

Brick and concrete were salvaged for recycle by the highway department. Three tandem loads of dirt were brought in for the initial leveling after the demo.
Approximately 10 minutes to tear down and six hours to clean up.
