Oops!!!

November 24, 2016 by DickmanLegacyLodge

The valley beam for the cathedral ceiling is a view inches short.  Back to the drawing board and beam fabricator.  Another benefit of a fixed price contract!!  Although a slight delay in production.

More Roof Trusses

November 24, 2016 by DickmanLegacyLodge

The roof trusses for the back porch are quickly set once the logs and beams are set into place.  The extension on the ridge beam seen in the last picture could make a great place for a rope swing, or perhaps anchor for a zip line out to the boat dock??????

November 24, 2016 by DickmanLegacyLodge

Another major beam is set to support the back porch roof and the cathedral ceiling in the great room.   Do you think this is  over engineered?

What’s For Dinner at the Legacy Lodge

November 22, 2016 by DickmanLegacyLodge

Finally caught some crappie for dinner.  Fresh fish is often on the menu, and these are fresh.  With freezing weather and blizzards now hitting the North, it is a great time to be in the South.20161121_121123

Center Support Pole is Erected

November 22, 2016 by DickmanLegacyLodge

The log that will support the back porch ridge beam is moved to its resting position atop the cross log support.  The notch in the top will hold the back porch ridge beam.  The last picture shows the ridge beam being raised into position.

All I Wanted Was Some Crappie For Dinner

November 22, 2016November 23, 2016 by DickmanLegacyLodge

Took my friend fishing to catch some crappie for dinner.  Unfortunately, this catfish had the same idea.  Based on the size of his belly, he already had his for dinner and the rest moved.  This 20+ pound blue catfish ate my crappie minnow.  It was quite a battle on a 7’6″ medium light crappie rod and 8 pound test line.20161118_174113

Two 6 x 12 by 14 foot solid cypress beams are installed on the back porch as part of the porch roof support structure.  The large cypress log below is sanded and being notched in the last picture in preparation for installation to span the two beams.

Framing of the Second Floor Begins

November 18, 2016 by DickmanLegacyLodge

First and last pictures reflect some of the quality framing details.  Note the notches cut in the LVL’s for the 2 x 4’s.   It is difficult to see the three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the second level because of the maze of framing in progress.
